2018 Nissan 370Z

Introducing the 2018 Nissan 370Z

As you launch from a stop, your heart rate rises in tandem with the RPMs of the tachometer. Fast.

You can't help but smile as the car rev-matches for you as you shift into a lower gear to enter a sharp corner. The G-forces try to pull you from the well-bolstered seats while the car's immense grip holds the driving line as you apex the corner. Fun.

Heads turn as you pull up to the next stop light. People can't help but stare at the 370Z's flowing lines and unmistakable profile. Stylish.

The Heritage

Fast, fun, and stylish: three vital ingredients when making a legendary sports car. Since the original 1970 240Z, Nissan has been perfecting its recipe for more than 45 years. While doing so, the Z cars have earned their legendary status - both on the street and the race track. The 370Z is the newest spiritual successor to the 240z. Using their many years of experience, Nissan has concocted the greatest Z yet.

The Style

The 370Z's design is modern, sleek, and sexy, while still echoing its heritage from the original 1970 240Z's design. The original design formula from the 240Z still holds true: a powerful, naturally-aspirated 6-cylinder engine is cradled under a long hood, flowing into a fastback roofline over the 2-seater cabin.  The profile is finished with the rear hatch meeting a short rear deck. Modern enhancements like flared fenders that house the large 19-inch NISMO forged alloy wheels by RAYS really make the 370Z standout. Other styling features include standard HID headlights with a smoked housing, LED daytime running lights and tail lights, an available front chin aero deflector, and an available rear spoiler.

The Interior

On the inside of the 370Z, you will find a driver-focused cockpit. Large gauges are thoughtfully located and easy-to-read at a glance. The main instrument cluster even moves as you adjust the steering column for optimum visibility. Controls are easy to reach and are uniquely shaped, so you can keep your eyes on the road. Well-bolstered seats with anti-slip material on the cushions and integrated knee pads on both sides of the console will keep you secure during spirited driving, as well as comfortable on long rides. The driver's seat is 8-way adjustable and is available with adjustable lumbar support so it is easy to find the ultimate driving position. For luxury and comfort, higher trim levels come equipped with leather-appointed seats with synthetic suede inserts, that are heated or climate controlled. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are also available.

The Space

As with most sports cars, cargo space is at a premium, but the rear cargo area has plenty of room for a set of golf clubs and a few bags - perfect for a weekend getaway. There are also a number of convenient built-in storage areas in the cabin, including a hidden compartment behind the passenger's seat to conceal valuables.

The Sound

For those times when you want something more than the intoxicating song of the 370Z's V6 engine, you can also listen to your favorite music with the available eight-speaker, two-subwoofer Bose sound system.  The available 7-inch touch screen navigation and infotainment system can play music from your favorite sources, including iPod, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth devices, or USB connection. Steering wheel controls for the radio and the Bluetooth hands-free calling system comes standard on all 370Zs so you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

The Power

With a 3.7-liter V6 engine cranking out 332 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, the 370Z has plenty of power to pin you to the back of your seat when you press the gas pedal. The engine provides quick throttle response and a broader torque curve, thanks to Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL). Nissan has done a lot of engineering to make sure you get as much horsepower as possible to the rear wheels by using a lighter and incredibly strong carbon-fiber composite drive shaft. You can also reduce rotating mass by opting for the available 19-inch RAYS forged alloy wheels that are much lighter and stronger than a cast wheel.

The Gearbox

Feel the power of control as you row through the 370Z's gears with Nissan's close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. Every manual transmission 370Z comes with an EXEDY high-performance clutch for reduced pedal effort and enhanced precision and control. Having a perfect gear change is made easy with the available SynchroRev Match technology. SynchroRev Match monitors the clutch, shift lever, and vehicle speed so that when you downshift, the system "blips" the throttle to the ideal engine rpm for a supremely smooth downshift. It also works when upshifting to give you optimum acceleration. If you prefer the heal-toe shifting method, the system can be switched off with the touch of a button. If you prefer the option of letting the car shift for you, there is a rev-matching 7-speed automatic. Optional magnesium paddle shifters allow you to feel like a pro.

The Handling

Horsepower is only a fraction of the driving dynamics of a great sports car; it also needs to brake and corner well. When the road gets twisty, the 370Z's sport-tuned suspension minimizes unwelcome body movement. A lightweight double-wishbone front suspension along with a 4-link rear design help keep the car planted and under control. When you need to slow down, Nissan's available 4-piston front brake calipers and 14-inch front rotors can bring you to a halt quickly.
The Convertible

The 370Z Roadster offers you the feeling of total freedom. With the ability to drop the convertible top, you create a next-level sensory experience with the wind blowing through your hair and the warm summer sun on your face. The 370Z Roadster's top is fully automatic and can be put up or down in approximately 20 seconds with the touch of a button. When in the down position, the convertible top is completely concealed below a full body-color tonneau cover. Air turbulence in the cabin is reduced with a glass wind deflector located between fixed headrest bars.

The Performance

For the most powerful Z car ever, Nissan offers its flagship NISMO 370Z. NISMO, Nissan's in-house tuning, motorsports, and performance division, has pushed the envelope with the 370Z NISMO, with the intention of creating a track-proven and ready performance car for the street. The engineers have used their experience and knowledge to boost the NISMO 370Z to 350 horsepower by upgrading to a free-flow dual exhaust and engine tuning. The suspension has also been aggressively re-tuned and enhanced with higher spring and stabilizer bar rates. On the outside, the NISMO 370Z wears enhanced aerodynamic bodywork including aggressive front and rear fascias that provides significant downforce and wind-tunnel testing to minimize drag. Inside, you will find leather-appointed Recaro seats with grippy red Alcantara inserts and a leather and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.
