2018 Nissan LEAF

Introducing the 2018 Nissan LEAF

Completely redesigned for 2018, the 100% electric Nissan LEAF builds upon the groundbreaking original LEAF, the first mass-market electric car sold in the United States. The new model brings greater range, more power, advanced technology, and cutting-edge safety features. With the new Nissan LEAF, stepping into the future has never been easier.

Style
The all-new exterior design starts with Nissan's signature V-Motion grill with a translucent blue 3D mesh pattern inside that subtly states its EV uniqueness. Flanking the grill are available LED headlights accented with LED daytime running lights to enhance forward illumination coverage. Clean lines accentuate the LEAF's sleek profile, from the low hood that effortlessly blends with the windshield, to the roof which looks like it is floating in the rear, thanks to blacked out C pillars. The design finishes in the back with distinct V-shaped taillights, and a spoiler integrated with the rear glass. As functional as it is eye-pleasing, the exterior design results in a low drag coefficient, to provide you with better electric range.

Interior
Inside the LEAF, you will find a comfortable cabin with seating for up to five, with a pleasant amount of space even for tall travelers. There are a number of standard and available technology features to keep you and your passengers comfortable, entertained, and informed. A standard automatic climate control system allows you to dial in the exact temperature you would like and the system does the rest. For additional comfort on those frigid days, front seat warmers and a heated steering wheel are also available.

SV and SL trim LEAFs come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system. The system allows you to seamlessly sync your cell phone with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you can stream your favorite music, use hands-free calling, and even stay connected by using your favorite apps through the car's touch-screen display.

A customizable 7-inch digital information display has been integrated into the gauge cluster and comes standard on all LEAFs. You can display vital information together such as battery range, power level, and usage. You can also receive directions, Bluetooth audio information, and even hands-free text message information.

The LEAF has a variety of cargo solutions for your belongings. Behind the rear seats, you will find a spacious cargo area with 23.6 cu. ft. of space, giving you plenty of room for day-to-day needs or a weekend adventure. The 60/40 rear seats provide additional flexibility for longer cargo, while still having room for a rear passenger. Folding the entire rear seat yields the most cargo space with 30 cu. ft., enough room to haul bulky items like a bicycle.

Driving Experience
Nissan's electric motor provides a driving experience like no other, with instantaneous torque, a nearly silent ride, and no gas or tailpipe emissions. The lively electric motor has been upgraded to produce 147-horsepower and 236 lb-ft torque. The battery pack has also been improved to give the new LEAF an estimated range of 150 miles.* In total, the LEAF is estimated to get 152 City, 100 Highway, and 112 Combined MPGe.** Floor-mounted batteries give the LEAF a low center of gravity, which combined with an upgraded suspension, gives you smooth responsive handling.
A new feature for the LEAF is the e-Pedal. With the flip of a switch, the e-Pedal can be activated so you can experience one pedal driving. When you press on the accelerator pedal, the car speeds up; by letting off the accelerator, increased regeneration resistance decelerates and stops the car, even on steep hills. The normal brake pedal is still there too for quick stops if you need it.

Safety
Nissan has engineered the LEAF to keep you and your passengers safe. Not only has it been designed and equipped with many safety features to help achieve top safety ratings from NHTSA and IIHS, they have also included the cutting-edge technology to prevent an accident in the first place. These features include:
  • Nissan ProPILOT Assist - Maintains a preset speed and distance from the vehicle ahead of you. It will help keep you centered in your lane and can even bring the LEAF to a complete stop then bring you back up to speed, based on traffic flow. If the system detects a pedestrian in the crosswalk, it can bring the vehicle to a stop.
  • Intelligent Around View Monitor - Provides you with an on-screen alert when moving objects are detected around your vehicle.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking With Pedestrian Detection - Monitors your speed and senses the proximity to the vehicle ahead. A warning is provided if you need to slow down and it can also apply braking if you fail to respond. The system will also apply the brakes if a collision is unavoidable, helping to reduce the impact.
  • Blind Spot Warnings - Detect the presence of vehicles to the side of the LEAF using radar. Warning indicators alert you if the system detects a vehicle to help you during lane changes.
  • Cross Traffic Monitor - Sensors detect vehicles approaching from either side when you are backing up and provides a warning.
